Default tungkee's progression thanks to Revere

2 Months ago I came across a Living Social deal for Glass blowing lessons at Revere Glass. Always having a curiosity about the art, but never taking the steps to pursue it, I decided it was time to get my feet wet. I bought two of the deals and then found a contest link on the Revere website that lead me back to my favorite home, Tokecity! The contest was to create your own creative design for a smoking piece and it must be out of Clay or some type of molding putty. The winner receives a scholarship for the Pipe Making 1 class. The rest is history... or at least it will be for me... epic history....

And here are some shots of my winning design. I used Crayola Air Dry clay. It was a pain waiting for everything to dry since some of the pieces were really thick.

Eye Globe close up:

Mushroom diffuser. The jar was previously used to house some delicious Sour Diesel. Since I ran out, I had to reuse it for something:

Hot glue sticks for support:

It's all starting to come together:

This teeth area, as cool as it looks, was a pain in the a$$ to paint!

Here is the family shot. We have the first tungkee tungkee collab with a mushroom diffuser, eye globe, smile globe, and horn slide. Again extra clay so I made a mushroom oil container and bloody finger dabber (modeled after my pinky):

Detailed shot of my bloody finger dabber. yup, my pinky actually looks like that.

And my mushroom diffuser:

I'm deep into my second class now at Revere Glass and so far I've made a dabber, onie (aka chillum), a bottle, and a pendant (which broke just as I was about to finish it). I'm loving the lessons so far and it is really exciting to see your project come to life (as long as it doesn't break from any stresses).

This dabber was supposed to be longer but because I'm a newb, it kept getting shorter while I was trying to perfect the tip. And the Marias.... just too much fun making those little things!!!

And my first functional piece, more to come!!

Lesson 3.... SPOONS!!!!

So what did I learn.... Spoons are hard at first and they get easier each time you make them.. I figure, a few dozen more of these and I'll have it down the way I like it. There are a lot of skills that go into making a spoon that are necessary to make other types of pieces.

During this session, I had the honor of learning from Phil Siegel. I made a total of 6 spoons (the first two had to go into the trash), but the next four were functional. Although still not perfect, I'm happy with what I've accomplished.

hell yeah man, I love your clay piece! fucking badass! I can see you definitely going somewhere in this industry. Never give up! You will get mad frustrated as this medium is very odd and tempermental. But all good things in good time and you will be destroying it for sure!!
