Default Let it flow, greatly grow, wide and clear

Hello everybody!

I'm about to get an indoor grow started and figured I'd document the experience! I have grown three times indoors, all of which using the same setup, so I'm not an absolute beginner. I was running a 330 watt T5 for veg and a 400 watt HTG magnetic HPS ballast with a hortilux bulb and HTG's crappy batwing reflector for flowering . It was in a 3' X 3' closet and the only ventilation I had was a large box fan blowing air out of the closet (I left the door open during light hours). Obviously these aren't your ideal conditions but I still managed to get around 3 ounces from my third and final round using Nirvana's Bubblelicious seeds. They were all tied down early on and it helped the yield as I was able to get more than one main cola on each plant. I've taken the past year off from growing due to my living situation, but I'm getting back into the hobby shortly!

I am sending in my mail order tomorrow for the following seeds from Seed Boutique:

-5 feminized Nirvana Blue Mystic
-5 feminized Nirvana Chrystal
-5 feminized autoflower Big Bang (greenhouse seeds I believe)
-5 feminzed autoflower Green-o-matic (think it's greenhouse as well)

Here is how I'm thinking about setting it up:

-22" x 36" x 62" Agrostar growtent from HTG...there is a store near me so I plan on buying whatever products they offer
-HTG 400 watt magnetic ballast with cooltube 6 air-cooled reflector and a hortilux bulb. I am still open to other reflectors, but I definitely will be using an air-cooled hood this time around.
-Promix BX soil for seedlings, and I might use it the whole grow or may switch to FFOF...haven't decided yet
-Don't know if I will use nutes yet but last time I used the Fox Farms Trio and may consider using it again. Haven't done any research on nutes in a long time and will get to that in a week or two.
-plan on growing 2 plants and vegging until they are about 12" and will tie them down before they reach the 12" desired height. In addition to the 2 plants, I am going to germinate 5 lowryder's at the same time so I can bust out a quick yield. Eventually I want to learn how to top but I don't want to try it the first run.
-CFL's for veg...don't know the wattage yet but I'm just gonna get some from Lowe's

I still don't know how exactly I'm going to ventilate the tent, but here's what I was thinking:

A) Carbon Filter>Hood>inline fan>duct out the tent
B) hood>Carbon Filter/inline fan combination (HTG has these)>duct out the tent
C) Hood>Duct>outside tent>inline fan>carbon filter (probably won't do this but it's still a possibility)

I don't have any experience setting up a ventilation system but I've been doing a lot of research lately and I'm feeling a little better about it. I'm kinda leaning toward doing the "B" option because I feel like it will be easy to set up and I wanna avoid setting up the fan/filter outside the tent if possible.

Thanks for stopping by!

now it's time to LET IT GROW

Thanks

Anything in particular you like about the blue mystic? Easy to grow, good yield, taste, smell, effect, etc.?

Sweet thanks for the info x0mb, I'm really looking forward to it.

Yeah I had a great experience with Nirvana's feminized bubblelicious seeds in the past which is a big reason why I ordered more Nirvana seeds. Every seed germinated and they were all nice plants.

I decided I'm going to get the 39" x 39" x 7' instead of the 22" x 36" x 63" tent. It's only $30 more and I feel like it will be better for temperature reasons. Also gives the plants more room to breathe and more room for the filter and fan to hang comfortably. I'm also thinking about getting a small inline fan to put in the bottom of the tent to make it easier for fresh air to come in.

My local HTG store is having a sale September 15 with 10% off everything so I'm gonna get everything that day. I went there yesterday to check everything out and got some excellent help from one of the associates. He was very knowledgeable and I could tell he was very passionate about what he's doing. Way better customer service than the other hydro shop I've been to in my area and I will definitely give all my $ to them for this reason.

I'm hoping my money order successfully makes it to Seed Boutique and I can germinate the seeds by September 1. I have sent them a money order before and had no problems, but I always worry when I send money orders or cash in the mail.

No need...intake should be passive.
