Not to cause paranoia, BUT the thing is, that if you are going to do anything illegal, you must realize that anything can happen at any time.... In this state, NC, a person can call in without giving a name and have police looking for probable cause..... If they find anything like plastic over the windows, or empty pots on your deck, they can and will grant probable cause.... If they find anything, you can contest it through trial and maybe win but the taxman will demand payment on amount found if it is over 48 grams, whether you are found guilty or not.... I did not hear about this, I lived it..... By the way, the person that calls in the first place gets a % of money seized.......... We need to fear and respect the powers that be here in the land of the free to comply....... mike

I was under the impression the supreme court had said taxing drug busts was unconstitutional, since it was tied with the marijuana stamp decision.

North Carolina is one of the few states that still have the tax in place.... I had to pay 58,000 bucks for a medical grow...... They charge wet weight minus root balls...... They said the water in the plant was the same as the cut on other drugs....... I too thought that the law was repealed.... I was mistaken....... The land of the free..... We harvest it and they harvest us......

Sorry to be off topic, but what % is the tax on your product? If they charged you $58,000, what does that cover? one harvest or a year or what?
Back on topic, I am enjoying this thread - I see both sides as having quite valid points and it seems that a lot of this would come down to politics and location.
I am in Canada and don't know the laws on flir, but it's good to see info on TC about any possible security issue [legal or not in courts] that I may come across. I know they're not looking for my closet, but knowledge of every aspect of growing/security helps for future reference ignorance would be a bad way to get busted.

Hey, Ninja, no disrespect or anything but I dont see SWAT busting a pot grow as that out of the ordinary. especially not on the commercial scale. Think about how much money is invovled in a well run grow house, one that would show up the way theirs did. It would be a ridiculous amount of profit and where there is money, drugs, and the risk of cops, there are usually guns. Just my .02

I dunno I'm kinda with bob I wouldn't put shit past them, wouldn't be suprised if some of the more 'rich' PDs in bigger cities dont just drive around shootin these at people's houses when there isn't shit going on.

doubt it, theres noone driving around with infrared cameras anyway, you can't see SHIT. if your gonna actually think that our government is spying on us there doing it from above our heads, and there doing it without telling us, so people, there is no way of fucking knoing the truth, just be safe, safe, safe, dont screw around if your breaking the law, and even though it should be legal, like everyone in the world says, you are still breaking the law and they will bust you if they can.
BE SAFE! use Infrared blocks around your walls if you feel unsafe without it, choose what risks you take, its all your choice.
