Default Shatner's work thread

Hey guys, I'm pretty new here. I've been lurking for a bit but have recently been posting more.

I figure I'm at the point in my glassblowing career (hobby?) to show the stuff I've made. It's nothing compared to the artists that have my utmost respect. You guys have talent and work your asses off. This shit ain't easy!

I've been at it for about 3 years, on and off. I'll post oldest to newest.

Hope you guys like it!

Bling, bling!

Bowl holder:

Starship Tical backed with Turbo cobalt with Berry Gumboldt stringer next to it. I love that color.

I'm getting into stick-stack/tube cane pulls and switchbacks. This was what I could salvage from the small tube pull.

I'm obsessed with horns. I think this ones a bit too big, but it works. The horn is English Ivy mixed with cleat 10:1.

Constructive criticism is always welcome. I hope to be in some of your collections some day.

This isn't everything I've made but it represents my style. I'll keep this post updated.

-Shanter

Hey man, impressive work. How did you get into it? Just start taking lessons and such? You do it as a hobby or do you plan to make some money off it at some point? Is it really as hard as it looks?

There are two kinds of smokers: The ones who own a ROOЯ, and the ones who dream of owning one

I ran into a glassblower at a festi who agreed to teach me and ended up ripping me off for a torch, kiln, colored glass, clear glass, tools, and more "lesson" time. So I said "fuck it", re-invested all of the money for new gear bit by bit and am self taught. I have taken a few classes.

It's more of a hobby, but it's leaning more towards a career at this point.

And yes, it's as hard as it looks. At first. The basic stuff becomes easy and the technical stuff becomes hard, where before it was impossible. You couldn't just hop on a torch and be banging out inside out fummies or even wrap and rakes immediately.

I'm getting into line work like stickstack and switchbacks/reversals, so you should see that from me soon.
