baster doesnt need to be modded at all for adaptor, maybe jus a lil teflon tape for teh seal

and for purge, keep it under a boil...fairly hot

Yea I like to use teflon plumbers tape to make a good seal between the baster and the butane can.

Yep, been there before. I used teflon tape as well. Seems to get the job done with no reprecussions :O.

Couldn't find this in search: I personally shoot the tane into the dish WHILE THE DISH IS ALREADY FLOATING IN THE HOT HOT WATER. The oil comes out the same and the initial evap occurs more quickly. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any reason that I shouldn't do this.

Should be ok as long as the dish doesn't get too hot. I'd asked about doing this last winter when I was being forced to do runs in the snow and nobody seemed to think it was a problem, and I think some do this all the time anyway. The only thing I found was that if you have the dish sitting in hot water for a couple minutes before you shoot it can get hotter than I prefer to shoot into (like instant tane evap as soon as it hits the dish) that seemed to produce underflavored oil. Also if you're doing consecutive runs be sure to put the dish back in the hot water before you shoot again, or else you'll shoot into water (learned that one the hard way, ).

dude you should smoke that scissor hash as is. its some extremely tasty stuff and although i smoke bho all the time id never run scissor hash!

but if your gonna...break it up small as possible and mix evenly with flowers. youll wanna run more butane that normal and you might wanna let the tane "sit" in the tube for a few seconds to break down the resin easier. thats what i do when i blow hash (i fill up the tube untill its about to start dripping, and then i let it sit 10-15 seconds and then blown the remaining butane out, i believe this helps break down the hash better)

In the making of butane honey oil, how much plant matter and also any water soluble contaminants would be present?

This is obviously greatly effected by the quality of the weed used to make the oil, but lets say primo buds were used and with normal coffee filter at the bottom of the the extraction tube.

Would it be worth while to shoot the butane/thc into a bowl/jar of very cold water placed in an ice bath. This should stop the butane from evaporating(or slow it down immensely, as butanes boiling point is -0.5C)
This should produce 2 layers in the jar, one with the butane and thc, and the other with water and other junk.
The butane/thc could then be siphoned out thru a tube wrapped in cold packs, and then evaporated leaving a much more pure product.

If this method could be used to clean oil, maybe lower grade weed products could be used to produce better oil.
