My Strains. What do you have? - Page 25

Wow, after reading about all of the new strains, I'm jealous. And a little sad as I am about to post my 1st grow journal on some very Shady bagseed which appears to be sativa. Problem is that all I can think about is the one time I smoked Northern Lights in college. How does everyone have so many awesome strains? I live in Socal, but have been paranoid to even try and order them. All I have left are 2 bagseed that I just found in a sack. Everyone keeps telling me to forget seeds and just pickup some clones from the dispensary, but I really miss Northern Lights, Durban Poison, Kush, Skunk, and the good old days. Any suggestions?

I started out with bag seed too.
...some of which sucked, and some of which wuz pretty good.
Then a buddy & I ordered some beans....that was way back before Emory got popped. We split the cost of some DJ Short's Blueberry, and a second buddy picked up the cost of some Sensi Seed's Durban & Afghani...in total we've ordered from Emory twice, Gypsy twice, and Doc twice. At the same time, buddy #2's dad gave us a local Big Bud clone....and we got more clones of other strains later, as we got to know other growers locally. Once we started growing, we also started posting on these on-line forums....which lead to gittin seed offers from other members, and seed prizes in contests. We try to do seed batches of good/original/old genetics, so that we have more than than just the pack we receive. Also, once ya git rollin in the hobby, ya start makin crosses yer self....jus to see wut ya come up with.
Anyways, that's how I accumulated my seed stash.

Thanks for the heads up Bob, BTW i found the 2 seeds in the bud below. It smoked decent, but I'm not sure if it would be worth trying to grow it. Since genetics seem to be an important factor, it would seem that with the proper care, i probably couldn't make it any better... maybe its time to order some good strains. I just wish there was some way to get them locally in Socal, but I just don't know anyone, nor does anyone that I know realize i am growing...

LOL, same thoughts i had with two twin seeds on my first grow. after 2 months of TLC, they had to be killed...

No, likely you kin only do better. The reason being that most commercial croppers employ less than optimal methods, since they are after fast turn around & yield. So you should be able to do as good or better...quality-wise.

Iffin ya liked the bud....try 'em.

Awesome, I definitely will try then, as soon as I get more seeds. Don't wanna spend all of the effort with only 2...

It was very healthy, but I didn't want to put forth the effort of cross breeding bag seed to bag seed. LOL. Guess I'm gonna have to grow some balls and just place an order soon
