Glass Nail vs. Titanium Nail ( and pros and cons talk inside!)

Hello TC, sorry ahead of times if this has been discussed but I did a search and didn't find anything.

I wanted to know what TC prefers using dome and nail method. I asked people that smoke oil and some people said glass, some people said titanium, so it's poll time!

When I asked people why they liked one over the other, some said that there's a metallic taste with the Ti nail, and that's why they like glass.

I have both a glass and Ti nail, but don't have a favorite yet, since I just recently got them and still doing my taste test.

If you could post your Pros and Cons of both for the TC forums that would be great so we can have something to go by.

ive been using the ti nail for the last month or so and i must admit that its nice to not worry about the inevitable "tink"...
tastes about the same as glass...although it doesnt make as thick a hit..(or so it seems)

I use both,Ti in the shop and glass nails everywhere else,ummmmmmm oil

glad you had a both option, flavor is the spice of life

since I got my Ti nail it hasn't left my dome, but I'm going out of town this weekend and I'm packing glass nails too so..... YMMV

Unless you have a torch, or have a close friend with a torch, Ti all the way. Personally, I think the taste is better in Ti after the first couple of hits. It's easy to make glass start outgassing by too much heat on it, and no matter how careful you are, the glass is going to break.

My 2 cents.

im going to look up some numbers in my transport phenomena book and settle this. i dont know any properties of oil but i should still be able to do a qualitative analysis of each material for transferring heat to a fluid.

I like both. Breaking my first nail and seeing how coveted the Ti pad was, prompted my search to merge the two.

I do switch back and forth from time to time, but usually by myself or one other person with the glass nail so we don't overheat it.
