I was rocking the quartz that came with my Macro for a while and it wasn't bad. At first the taste seemed better, but that doesn't last long. Also I feel like quartz cools too fast if the dabs too big, leaving some oil behind and birthday candling next time I heat it. I picked up a Ti nail for it at Smoke Rings in NH last weekend and I probably won't use quartz again.

Glass nails break after a few dabs for me, shit drove me crAAzzy
finally got a ti nail and fell in love, the taste was better and seemed less harsh than off of a glass nail
a month after, i got my first quartz nail and didnt really like it. The taste was very odd and like russta ^ said it did seem to cool fast on big dabs. I never have that problem with ti nails, they are fool proof
ti or di

some quartz nails are just plain bad. if they are super thin and have a big cup the heat will disapate before any good dab can be had.

I found thick quartz nails with a thick cup and it retains heat much longer.

but still nothing compared to ti nail.

i used the same glass nail everyday MULTIPLE times a day for close to 8 months and it never cracked or anything just sayin... but i bought a Ti nail the other day and a huge difference. the Ti just takes a little longer to heat otherwise it brings out that great HASHY taste in oils i think and it vapes all the oil without leaving any behind.

Been rocking boro nails since I picked up a macro (only have 18mm ti) but they're not bad haha. My only complaint is it cracked after about 3 weeks, but it hasn't broken yet and it's been a month since then. Careful heating is key it would seem.

On a side note, does anyone else feel like ti vapes differently than boro? It could just be the greater surface area of my h.e. nail vs a pushed-head nail that im noticing but it seems like my dabs vape quicker off the ti

How so? As I recall, titanium is a greater thermal conductor than glass, which is considered an insulator. So if you heat both to, say, 1000 degrees, assuming equivalent mass and surface area the titanium should cool off faster, no? my .02

insulator-A substance that does not readily allow the passage of heat or sound

yes, titanium will hold heat longer... thats just science....

So I have my macro on the way and cant decide going Ti or Quartz. I am thinking Ti as thats what have been using thus far with my curve's but has anyone break or is concerned of breaking their DI oil unit because of the transfer of heat?

I want to get Ti but afraid of potentially harming my DI joint what do you all say? My Toro Macro comes tmrw and I am pretty excited to try the smallest unit I own thus far for the taste and first time globe owner.

i got a ti on my macro, works great

but the thing you have to think about is this.... with quartz your going to be heating for lot longer, and you wont know when to stop cause u cant tell how hot it is most the time, meaning that you'll be using more heat each dab which is what your trying to avoid to keep from cracking
