as to the issue of pressure loss on the maglite I just like "caulked" around the butane adapter tip with "shoe goo"(skaters know what this is) and it holds the adapter tip in there nice and firm. |

that sounds terrible. how can you be sure butane isnt contacting and then extracting crap from the shoe goo if thats what's ultimately preventing the pressure loss? |

why not just spend 4 dollars on a stainless steel turkey baster and know that your vessel isn't leaking, or leeching harmful chemicals? or at least buy a new maglite/figure out a way of sticking the adaptor tip in? I use rolling paper to make sure the tip is sealed: rolling paper is less than .001 of an inch thick, so you can add layers to ensure its sealed. I used to use plumbers/teflon tape, but I got worried about extracting crap from the teflon, but even that would be better than any glue related substance. edit: at least the teflon is meant to be used on your pipes for drinking water! |

Yep, it works surprisingly well. It bunches up and makes the same little white (well in this case hemp coloured as i use hemp papers) circle donut a majigger around the extractor tip that keeps the seal solid. Just be carefull when repeatedly pulling the can in and out of the tip as that may pop it loose, as the paper isn't stickyish like teflon tape and make sure you check the tip every run to see if its still solid. I always make sure to give it a final shove in before I start spraying. |
