Pretty sure these questions have been asked before, but it seems like you've at least tried to do some reading so I'll help you out. Next time search a bit longer/harder, and post links to the threads/posts you looked at (even if they didnt help that much) so people can have an inkling of what you already know.

Most people on here are spraying into oversized dishes (as in, the dish is much larger than the surface area the sprayed tane will cover). This helps with the purging process (the more surface area covered by the oil, the quicker butane will escape) and the scraping process (no oil stuck on/in the edges/corners. So if anything just grab the largest pyrex you got. For the size run you're doing an 8" dish (circular or rectangular) will likely be the smallest you'd want to go.

As for knowing when to stop spraying: a lot of it is intuition, being able to read how dry/dense/packed the pot in the extractor is vs how fast the tane is flowing through. Generally, when the liquid butane pouring out the end of the extractor turns clear it's good to go, though myself and a few other posters prefer to catch a few of the drops midair to see if it's sticky. If its not sticky then I stop spraying, if its sticky I spray a little bit more and do it again.

Think I did something wrong here, possible not spraying long enough and/or water that was too hot when I 1st started spraying. Here's a pic of what I got after I scraped, not even sure what to call it

Its a dry, sorta powdery substance.

Updated pic. Felt much better about the way this was looking but would love to hear feedback

I cut my baster down super small recently too! It holds 2.5 of buds tightly. Small runs are the tits man! Super short purpe time

How much does that hold about?

So easy to purge fast n get clear, purty oils. I usually run 3.5-5 grams in my baster. Its roughly the same size as Dan K's. Id much rather do multiple runs with my small tube than to use my full sized baster on a big run. Ive had multiple ppl disagree with this, but I always yield more with my small baster. Always....

I totally agree. I used to dance around 12 and 13% returns before with a full baster but now i get up to 18%.
