Default Borosilicate Glass Strength

Roor are made with borosilicate, and I was wondering if this makes them any more resilient to being knocked, tipped over, dropped, things that will cause micro-fractures. Is a Roor more resilient to this type of damage than a HVY or Zob? I read HVY is made of Schott glass. Is this the same exact glass as Roor or is it a weaker type of borosilicate (in terms of this type of damage). I also noticed HVY do not have a true joint. Are the joints in HVY more likely to chip, or break sooner? I'd be interested in reading any information about the strength of Roor, Zob and HVY, as I'm weighing my options for a purchase.

Get something with a BEEEFY joint on it (look up US TUBES for examples) since that is the weakest point of any tube. And preferable 9mm thick. I believe you will be quite happy with the strength of this type of setup.

i can skip my clear spoons on the pavement most of the time. hope that helps
You make a good point, EZRoller. However, another thing to consider is the surface area of the contact points. The HVY looks like it was less contact area, so wouldn't that mean more stress per square mm or whatever?

Is it different than the glass used for Roors? I have gotten the impression from my research that they may be the same, and Schott is a brand name for all borosilicate glass, named after it's inventor, Otto Schott.

Schott is a brand named after the inventor of borosilicate glass, Otto Shott. However, I'm not sure if the type of borosilicate glass varies among tubes.

Schott is a brand of BoroSilicate glass.
So are Kimble, Pyrex, Simax, SchottBoroArtistic, and several chinese versions.
Schott is the cleanest, Simax fumes best, Kimble/Pyrex are inexpensive.
The annealing cycle is more important than the brand for strength.
Buy from any major manufacturer and be confident it was well kilned.
