Browning/yellowing on leaves

im new to TC and i am not an experienced grower, in any sense of the term, but for the past few months ive just been fucking around with some seeds for fun, i had one decent plant that when it got around 1-2ft tall it started turning yellow/brown from the bottom up starting with spots on the leaves and eventually the whole plant was dead. my new plant ive been training a little bit so it stays short and bushy and the same thing is starting to happen. how can i make this little bugger survive? any help would be appreciated

shes a strain called C4 its a chemdawg cross. 2 60 watt fluoros sitting atop her which i believe is plenty of light for a plant of her size so i dont really know whats going on

They're burnin up. Wutz the soil?...and wut, if any, nutes have ya used so far? Wood & bark chips will not do...MJ don't like 'em.

That was the first thing I cringed at too, hopefully it isn't one of those ones loaded with nutes.

damn. im fucking noob. i just used regular potting soil from the store like for a garden haha...im guessing that was a mistake? do i need to wash the roots and replant this little guy in some regular soil or what? im about to leave for 3 weeks in a few days for break so i gotta get this locked down asap before i leave

Hmm how are they gonna stay watered for those 3 weeks? What size pots are they in now? It may be as easy as deal with them as is untill you can transplant into a good soiless mix. Also what kind of soil did you use? does it have nutrients in it already?

unfortunately she wont be receiving any care whatsoever during those three weeks, just 24 hour light and a timed water cycle. but judging by the rate at which the last one died, this one wont last 3 weeks. its in a 3 gallon bucket right now but i dont plan on growing it to full size so i wanted to keep it to the 3 gallon...
soil i dont even remember but its probably something like this which im sure is the wrong way to go haha

...yer gonna come back to a dead plant.

If yer gonna be gone that long, don't try to fix anything. Just soak yer soil good b'fore ya go...maybe even set it in a saucer of water, to wick up as needed...cross yer fingarz, and hope fer the best.

I've done 11 dayz, but three weeks?...good luck with that.

I've done 11 dayz, but three weeks?...good luck with that.

i picked up the C4 seed in San Fransisco it was labeled as C4 and I was told is was a cross of chemdog #1 x chemdog #2 x chemdog #3 X chemdog #4. not sure. but thats irrelevant.

and the three weeks time is not whats worrying me, like i said, i have automatic watering. i need to know what is killing this plant right now and how to fix it so that it will not die over those three weeks, not taking into account the water situation

you have the water cycle timed? i assume this is some sort of pump?

You need some Pro-Mix organic soil or something soil-less altogether, this is what is killing your plant. Find the hydro shop in your area or a garden supply center

like they said, no wood chips. The pro-mix has them sometimes so break up clumps and take out wood chips.

What is your ventilation? intake and exhaust?

can you get some actual planters? i've never heard anything bad about smart pots. It's good to get your plants a couple inches off the ground too.
