The pump I know is cheap. Next option is an EcoPlus Commercial Air 1 18watt (wut I really want)...but that runs $54.49 compared to the $9.49. I tossed the decision around fer a while tween the two, but ultimately went the cheapest route to try & show minimized cost fer the whole set-up.

The air stones, I got no choice...all he's got are the 2" & 4". At least they're the cylinder and not the wand.:P

bob ph sticks you store in a wet solution brah. that's what they sold me anyways, and my ppm stick just sit there!

Anyways, not lots of new growth but hey its only been a week so nothing to worry about. When i changed the bucket the roots were indeed coming through the lavatron. Leaves are rigid now instead of laying down. Sooo i suspect growth be on its way soooon!!!

New bucket added .75ml/l a and b Canna Aqua Vega. Rhizzo same rate. And 4ml/l of Hydroponic Green Up.

ph= 5.7
ppm = 400-500

Up at Mudro's this mornin.

Back to my buddy's shop today....he gimme a buncha Vital Earth guano sample packets yesterday.

He's got no black buckits....gonna hafta wrap a white one.

Ain't gittin a pH tester....buddy sed same as cronmaster, so I'm gittin the General Hydroponic's liquid test indicator.

pH pens are stored wet...TDS pens are stored dry.

The most frequently he changes the res on a system? ...2 weeks on an open res eb&flo, cuz of the bacteria due to bein an open res. ...on the buckits, 1-2 months or longer.

I'll git started on settin stuff up as soon as I git back home. I got rooted clones ready to roll, but I got a question...

Should the peat pellet be removed from a rooted clone before being put in the net pot?

My cutz are all done in peat pellets....cuz when I took them, I din't know I'd be doin a buckit.

no bob, just leave the clones as is, in the pellet, bury it kinda deep in the hydroton, it wont take but a few days, and you'll see your roots out of the basket. I use rapid rooters, but i'd def leave the net on the pellet, to keep the peat intact.

Cool

And so it begins... One things for sure, you are much more prepared for hydro than I was in Round 1. Good luck Butcher Bob!

Bob, this thread is awesome. I dont know how I havent stumbled across this yet.

And while I'm here, heres my DWC..

I took a momma that was gettin a little big, pruned her up, vegged her a couple more days, and threw her in a quick n' easy setup.

Already had plenty of buckets, lids w/ baskets, hydroton, air pumps, air stones, tubing, etc..

(dont mind the orange bucket, the lights I'm using arent really penetrating the bucket, and its only temporary while the black buckets are being sterilized)

Some nice thick ol' roots comin out..

.. and this baby is gettin some CFL (2x Soft White 100w equivalents), LED (3x 90w UFOs (shitty quality)), and HID (1x 150w HPS) lighting.. and loving it..

Ive been runnin GH Maxi Series with all the additive plus the Subculture-M.

Enjoy!

Alright, let's see where I'm at...here are the goodies I got...

He din't have any black buckits, so I will be wrappin a regular white one.

Got the 6" Net Pot Buckit Lid.

My buddy agrees, so he would not let me buy one. Instead, he had me git the more expensive EcoPlus - EcoAir 1 Commercial Pump. And jus like ya sed, he indicated these have a $5 rebuild kit available as well.

Got two 4" OxyStones.

Got two 1/4" "T" connectors. (In pump box)

Got 11' of 1/4" tubing.

Got a lil bag of Hydroton.

Got a Hanna Primo TDS Tester.

Got the General Hydroponics pH Test Indicator, instead of the Hanna Checker pH Tester, as recommended.

He din't have any TDS calibrating solution, so I will git by with the supplied packet til I kin git some next time I go up.

He din't have the cleaning solution, so I will pick that up next time as well.

Cuz I din't git the pH pen, I din't need the 7.01 solution either.

Din't git the pH Up or pH Down either. He sed there's a good chance my levels will be fine, and that if I need correction in a pinch I kin use vinegar fer Down and baking soda fer Up. If I find my levels ain't good, I will pick up wutever I need.

Very good...he sed the same thing.

Wuz too late to git started by the time I got home today, so I'll git 'er set up tomorrow. I'll do pics on exactly how I put it all together...so that if I'm right, folks will have a good example...and if I'm wrong, y'all kin spank me fer it. I'll be usin Nutrilife's Heavy Harvest in the buckit fer the remainder of this season. Next season I'll git a second buckit to do some comparison grows...first up's gonna be the General Hydroponic Flora series, Grow, Micro, & Bloom, run against Nutrilife's Heavy Harvest series, Grow, Micro, & Bloom.

Also, gonna try to work out a deal with ona the General Hydroponics folks, to see if they'll lend me one of each system they make (jus one at a time), to do testin & reviews on...in exchange fer the data & publicity from those tests & reviews. I've already met the young man, and we've talked quite extensively aboot GH products, competitors products, and many of the issues that affect the industry. Fer his age, he is extremely well informed. I would like to see if there's some kinda aquaponic system he kin set me up with too.
