Default 14 or 19

i see most big name slide makers regularly use 14 joints, but i never see a tube maker that is big that uses 14 joints on the tubes. I see a lot of people useing 19-14 converters for there slides and it just doesnt make sence to me, why use the 14 joint, most people add a convertor (more shit to break and confuse other useing your set-up) and i find that a lo-pro downstem adds drag to my tube.

so what size slide do you prefer?? and why

i prefer 19 for the same reason you do. larger diameter on the downstem = better airflow, plus most 14 stuff feels really fragile to me. i have noticed that a lot of big name artists do way more work with 14 too though.

I dont know I like the feel of a 19/14 slide with 14 a/c's and bowls, just feels right. Anything else is too chunky. But I agree some 14 pieces definately look way too fragile.....
Im a firm believer airflow is all in the size of the bowl push

I prefer 19 for best flow, I find 14 works fine but 19 just has so much better flow
an example is my sg dub with 19, four trees...... great flow
might just be me

i guess i never though to ask if people buy slides just on looks, i buy all my functional glass for function first, looks second (not far cuz we dont need to comprimise)

are you guys buying slides based on looks over function????

well as far as slides go, i tend to buy based on looks. i figure there can't be that much of a difference between airflow unless the punch is huge or it an ice pinch/disc diffused slide.

Slide function to me is the push and the hole size, def depends on how it looks also. When it comes to tubes, def 19 and functionality is at the top of my list. That's the reason I got the all clear fixed stem SG instead of getting a totally worked normal double chamber SG. But then again I've never hit any thing that was 14, everything I have is 19.
