It depends on the interest of the forum runner to implement it as well.

    Running SSL prevents MITM attacks.

You lock your car when it is out in public. So TBH so should your internet traffic. But as previously noted - up to an admin to implement. Though there are even free solutions provided by EFF.

another point, probably made while I was offline for about 5yrs, at least this site: back in 2013 or earlier, I've got some browser history links that showed https links for this site. Images in my gallery from pre-2013 are all gone too. Apparently ssl was enabled previously, have no idea what would be involved with doing it again, if that's possible. However, all of that is dependent on the site Admn/owner. And like many cannabis sites, this one included; owner seems to be the 'silent' type, doesn't post much, doesn't communicate much to let those few left, understand what is going on...unfortunately. I think we can all blame ~Shabang~ for his bad influence as the orig site owner of OG, often MIA/on 'Shabantical' for extended periods of time, leaving the mod team guessing.

Another odd thing, does Madcity shut down this site *every* month now, to do 3-7days of 'maintenance'? With something <100 posts/month now, wouldn't think there would be days of maintenance to make the site function. If this was 2013 or earlier, 1+k posts/mo all over the site, by that measure Madcity could never get the site back up. Not criticizing MC, just making some observations in absence of instruction from the site owner. ....damn, I was editing this post, and I got the dreaded 'database error' msg screen, like I broke the site writing this post...guess it's more sensitive than anyone thought?

I think the site just crashed a couple times in the last while.
